Rules/Guidance for records Compass Points of London
Among other rules, this requires journeying to the most northerly, easterly, southerly and westerly points of London in any order in a single journey. It is no longer possible to be the first person to do this journey by motorcycle, motor vehicle or at all (unless the boundary of London changes in future) however there is still the opportunity to be the first to do it by other modes of transport.
The most northerly, easterly, southerly and westerly points are:
Northerly: On M25 between Junctions 24 and 25
Easterly: On Fen Lane in North Ockenden
Southerly: On Ditches Lane just north of Chaldon in Surrey
Westerly: On the roundabout at M25 Junction 14
Rules/Guidance for Two Furthest Apart Points (true End to End)
Among other rules this involves finding 2 points within London as far apart as possible (as the crow flies) that can be travelled between using only pubic roads and journeying between them. Records can be awarded for furthest straight-line distance overall and by various different modes of transport. This journey was, to the best of our knowledge, between the two furthest apart points in London that can be journeyed between using public roads (which also makes it the ‘true’ end to end of London). So, notwithstanding boundary changes, the overall, motorcycle and motor vehicle records can’t be broken, however records can be awarded for different modes of transport.
Rules/Guidance for Official End to End
Because the true End to End of London starts and finishes on roads where it would be dangerous (eastern end) and illegal (western end) to stop, separate points have been selected for the ‘official’ end to end. If using the M25 as the main route the official end points are as follows. East, if going outside London to Bulphan and then coming back in: The Old White Horse pub inside North Ockendon, just off the end of Fen Lane; if coming through London, the intersection of Fen Land and Dunnings Lane between North Ockendon and Bulphan. West: If coming round the M25 : Heathrow Cargo Handling, Horton Road, SL3 0AT (just outside of London); if coming back into London form the West, Brett Aggregates, Leylands Lane.
Rules/Guidance for East to West Records
Among other rules travel from the most easterly point of London to the most westerly or vice versa. Because the easternmost and westernmost point of London coincide (to the best of our knowledge) with the End to End points, the rules and guidance would currently be the same as for records above.
Rules/Guidance for North to South Records
Among other rules, travel from the northernmost point of London to the southernmost, or vice versa. These (to the best of our knowledge) are a point on the M25 between Junction 24 and 25 in Enfield – you have to be going clockwise in the inside lane to literally hit the northernmost point) and the southernmost point is on Ditches Lane, just to the north of Chaldon. If you travel between Chaldon and Coulsdon on this road you will cross the boundary.

Dr. Patrick W. Jordan of London, UK rode a motorcycle between two points 75 kilometres apart as the crow flies in a total riding distance of 77.9 kilometres. This is a record low distance for travelling between points that are 75 kilometres apart when measured directly. His route began in Hampshire, just off the A303 and ended in Somerset in a gateway on the A303.
The rules of these records state (among other things) that as well as an overall record for shortest distance travelled between two points 75 kilometres apart as the crow flies, separate records will be given for different modes of transport. Separate records will also be given for different countries as it is likely to be far easier to travel 75 kilometres directly in big countries with long straight roads than in smaller more densely populated countries.

Dr. Patrick W. Jordan of London, UK visited a world record number of 15 Motorway Service areas by motorcycle within 5 hours (maximum 4 hours riding). This sets records for motorcycles, motor vehicles and overall. The rules of the record stipulate (among other things) a maximum of 4 hours travelling time and at least 1 hour of rest within the 5 hours. For a service area to count towards this record it must be signposted from a motorway by an official Department of Transport ‘Services’ sign. If the record is being attempted outside the UK then equivalency to this must be demonstrated. As well as an overall world record, records for separate countries will be awarded. These will still count as world records on the basis that anyone in the world may attempt them.
Within the UK additional world records are available based on the combined ratings of the services visited. These ratings are based on surveys by: Transport Focus (percentage rating); Motorway Services Online (Star Rating out of 5); Motorway Services Info (Burger Rating out of 5). As well as records being awarded for each of these separate rating schemes an overall combined rating record is available. This is done by converting the Star and Burger ratings into percentages and adding them to the Transport Focus rating to give a score out of 300 for each service area.

Rules/Guidance for records Compass Points of Somerset
Among other rules, this requires journeying to the most northerly, easterly, southerly and westerly points of Somerset in any order in a single journey. It is no longer possible to be the first person to do this journey by motorcycle, motor vehicle or at all (unless the boundary of Somerset changes in future) however there is still the opportunity to be the first to do it by other modes of transport.
The most northerly, easterly, southerly and westerly points on roads in Somerset are:
North: 51.326541, -2.797594 (A38)
East: 51.264916, -2.244148
South: 50.828156, -2.956371 (Chilson Dairy Farm)
West: 51.151686, -3.832968
Rules/Guidance for Two Furthest Apart Points (true End to End)
Among other rules this involves finding 2 points within Somerset as far apart as possible (as the crow flies) that can be travelled between using only pubic roads and journeying between them. Records can be awarded for furthest straight-line distance overall and by various different modes of transport. This journey was, according to Dr Jordan’s research, between the two furthest apart points in Somerset that can be journeyed between using public roads (which also makes it the ‘true’ end to end of Somerset for motor vehicles – see below). So, notwithstanding boundary changes, the overall, motorcycle and motor vehicle records can’t be broken, however records can be awarded for different modes of transport.
Rules/Guidance for Official End to End
Because the true End to End of Somerset (non-metropolitan county) starts and finishes on roads where it is potentially dangerous to stop, separate points have been selected for the ‘official’ end to end. Dr Jordan was the first to journey between them and the first to do it by motorcycle (and therefore) motor vehicle. However there are still opportunities to achieve the first completion of it by other modes of transport. The official end points are as follows. West: Black Venus Inn on the B3358 just inside Devon. East: Brokerswood Holiday Park on Brokerswood Road just inside Wiltshire.
Rules/Guidance for East to West Records
The aim is to travel through as many degrees longitude as possible within Somerset.
Rules/Guidance for North to South Records
The aim is to travel through as many degrees latitude as possible within Somerset.

MOTORCYCLE ROAD RALLYING: SHORTEST DISTANCE TRAVELLED BETWEEN TWO POINTS 125 MILES APART AS THE CROW FLIES
World Records:
Motorcycle Road Rallying: The Shortest Distance Ridden by Motorcycle Between Two Points 125 Miles Apart as the Crow Flies

Motor Vehicle Road Rallying: The Shortest Distance Driven or Ridden Between Two Points in the United Kingdom 125 Miles Apart as the Crow Flies
The Shortest Distance Travelled between Two Points in the United Kingdom 125 Miles Apart as the Crow Flies
Dr. Patrick W. Jordan of London, UK rode a motorcycle between two points at least 125 miles apart as the crow flies in a total riding distance of 135.6 miles. This is a record low distance for travelling between points that are at least 125 miles apart when measured directly. His route began in Devon on rural roads and ended at a service area on the M3.
The rules of these records state (among other things) that as well as an overall record for shortest distance travelled between two points 125 miles apart as the crow flies, separate records will be awarded for different modes of transport. Separate records will also be awarded for different countries as it is likely to be far easier to travel 125 miles directly in big countries with long straight roads than in smaller more densely populated countries.

Dr. Patrick W. Jordan of London, UK rode through a world record 18 Districts within 5 hours, with a maximum of 4 hours riding. All of these districts were in the South West Region of England. The population of the districts visited totalled 3,645,100 and the total area of the districts visited was 16,410 square kilometres. This sets records for both motorcycles and motor vehicles generally in terms of total number of Districts visited, total population of the Districts visited and total area of the Districts visited. It also sets records in Regional, Country and World categories.
For the purposes of the District Rallying official Districts and Regions of England are used and Northern Ireland is counted as a single District containing a number of official Regions. For Scotland and Wales areas classified under the Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics (NUTS) as NUTS2 can be treated as the equivalent of a Region and those listed as NUTS3 can be treated as Districts. If attempting District Rallying Records outside of the UK evidence for equivalence to UK Districts and (if applicable) Regions must be provided.

The rules of the records state (among other things) that the person attempting the record must be at a complete halt at the start and end points and that it must be safe and legal to stop at both. This is because the record is not only about speed but also about planning and logistics.
As well as an overall record for quickest time to travel 25 miles on an A-road, separate records will be awarded for different modes of transport. Separate records will also be awarded for different countries due to different speed limits, traffic conditions etc.
Safety and legality are paramount. Any evidence of speeding or any other dangerous practice will invalidate any record attempt.

On 4th and 5th October 2018 Dr. Patrick W. Jordan of London, UK rode a motorcycle between the two furthest apart points as the crow flies within Mainland Wales that can be journeyed between using only public roads: a gate on Ermigate Lane, Pembrokeshire that closes the rest of the road to the public (51.612640, -4.997259 degrees) and the end of Station Road leading to the car park at Talacre Beach (53.353673, -3.316509 degrees). This was declared the ‘True’ End to End of Mainland Wales by public road.
Because these are awkward places to stop/start the End-to-End, the ‘official’ End-to-End of Mainland Wales was declared to be from Stack Rocks car park off Ermigate Lane (directly west of the gate) to Talacre Beach Car Park (Directly to the North of the end of Station Road) and for it to be known as ‘Stack Rocks to Talacre Beach’. As part of the ‘True’ End-to-End ride Dr. Jordan had also ridden from the Stack Rocks car park to the Talacre Beach car park, making this ride also the first ‘official’ End to End of Wales.
Because the both the start points and the end points of the ‘real’ and ‘official’ end to ends are adjacent the ride details given below are the same for both.
Because Dr. Jordan had already completed and had certified ‘true’ and ‘official’ end to ends of the whole of Wales (on 4th and 5th August 2018) he was also awarded records pertaining to being the first to complete end-to-ends of both all of Wales and of Mainland Wales.

Much of the skill of the record is in finding places that are safe and legal to stop as close to 10 km apart as possible. Therefore there must be evidence of being at a complete halt at both the start and end points, it is not acceptable to simply journey through two points 10 km apart.

On 4th and 5th August 2018 Dr. Patrick W. Jordan of London, UK rode a motorcycle between the two furthest apart points as the crow flies within Wales that can be journeyed between using only public roads. The points are a bend on St Mary’s Well Bay Road near Swanbridge Bay (51.400267, -3.189535 degrees) and the end of a road leading to a National Trust Car Park at Cemlyn Bay (53.412428, -4.515030 degrees). This was declared the ‘True’ End to End of Wales by public road.
Because one of the points was on a bend in the middle of a narrow road, and therefore not a suitable starting point for a journey, the ‘official’ end to end of Wales was declared to be from the car park at Swanbridge Bay to the Car Park at Cemlyn Bay. The journey is known as ‘Swanbridge Bay to Cemlyn Bay’. As part of Dr. Jordan’s ‘True’ End to End ride he had also ridden from the Swanbridge Bay car park to the Cemlyn Bay car park, making this ride the first ‘official’ End to End of Wales.
